Product questions

  1. What is DayTradingSoftware?

DayTradingSoftware is day trading software for active US stock traders. It combines a real-time scanner, alerts, watchlists, a trading journal with CSV import, performance analytics, simple intraday backtests and an AI review of your trading day in one web app.

  2. Is DayTradingSoftware investment advice?

No. It is a tool. The scanner lists stocks that match the filters you choose, and the journal and reviews describe your own trades. Nothing in the product tells you to buy or sell a stock.

  3. What can the scanner filter on?

Price, float, volume, gap %, relative volume, change %, ATR and sector, plus ready scans for premarket gappers, top gainers, relative volume, new highs, halts and momentum change over 1 or 5 minutes. Read more on the stock scanner page.

  4. How do alerts work?

You can set an alert on a new scan match, a price level, a relative volume threshold or a VWAP cross. Alerts arrive in the browser, by email and as push notifications. Details are on trading alerts.

  5. Do I need to install anything?

No. DayTradingSoftware runs in the browser on desktop and mobile. Push alerts work once you add the app to your home screen or allow browser notifications.

Market data questions

  1. Is the market data real time?

Paid plans use licensed real-time US market data for the scanner and alerts. The scan you can run on this site uses a sample session that is delayed and is not live market data.

  2. Which markets does the scanner cover?

US listed stocks, in premarket from 4:00 ET, regular hours from 9:30 to 16:00 ET and, on Pro and Desk, after hours to 20:00 ET. Options, futures, forex and crypto are not part of the scanner.

  3. Why might my scan differ from my broker's data?

Feeds can differ by a few cents or a few seconds, and brokers count premarket volume in different ways. Always confirm price and size in your order ticket before you trade.

Journal and import questions

  1. Do you need my broker password?

No. You download the execution CSV from your broker and upload it. The journal only reads the files you upload and never connects to your brokerage account.

  2. Which brokers can I import from?

The importer reads the execution export format of popular US brokers. If your broker's file is not recognized, you can log trades by hand in the entry card, with the same R-multiple and tags.

  3. What does the journal calculate for each trade?

R-multiple, net P&L after commissions, hold time and position size against the risk you set. Each trade also stores the scan state at entry, such as gap, relative volume, float and time, so you can see which scan conditions pay for you. More on the trading journal.

  4. What are mistake tags?

Tags you add to a trade, such as a moved stop or a position above your risk. Some are flagged by fixed rules, for example when the stop changed after entry. Reports then show how much each mistake cost you.

Backtests and AI questions

  1. What kind of strategies can I backtest?

Simple intraday rules. You set an entry such as a gap %, relative volume, a break of the premarket high or a VWAP cross, then a stop, a target and a time exit, and run it on historical intraday data. See backtesting software.

  2. Does a backtest predict future profits?

No. A backtest shows how a rule behaved on past data, without your real fills and slippage. Past performance and backtests do not guarantee future results.

  3. What does the AI day review do?

After the session it reads your own journal and writes a short summary of the day and repeating mistakes, for example that three of four losses came after moving the stop. It never predicts the market. More on AI day trading software.

Plans and billing questions

  1. Can I try it before I pay?

There is no free plan. You can run one sample scan with three visible rows and one journal entry without an account, so you can see how the product works.

  2. How much does it cost?

Starter is $49 per month, Pro $149 and Desk $499 for up to 10 seats. Yearly billing halves the monthly price to $24, $74 and $249. Full details are on day trading software pricing.

  3. How do I cancel?

Cancel in the dashboard at any time. Your plan stays active to the end of the period you paid for and does not renew after that.

  4. Do you give refunds?

Payments are final. We correct a double charge, an unauthorized charge and a complete failure of the service, as set out in the refund policy.

  5. Does deleting a backtest give my allowance back?

No. Backtests and AI day reviews are counted as usage in your billing period, so deleting one does not free the limit. The allowance resets with your next billing period.

Risk and rules questions

  1. What is the pattern day trader rule?

Under the FINRA rule, a trader who makes four or more day trades within five business days in a margin account, when those trades are more than 6% of the account's trades in that period, is treated as a pattern day trader. Such an account must hold at least $25,000 in equity on any day it day trades. FINRA has proposed changes to this rule, so check the current requirements with your broker.

  2. Does DayTradingSoftware place trades for me?

No. It never connects to your brokerage account and never sends orders. You trade at your broker, and the journal reads the execution file you upload.

  3. Is day trading risky?

Yes. Day trading involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for everyone. Read the full risk disclosure before you trade.

Prop firm questions

  1. Can funded traders use it?

Yes. A funded trader working alone can use Starter or Pro. The journal and analytics help you track how close each day came to your daily loss limit.

  2. What does Desk add for a prop firm?

Roles for owner, risk manager and trader, SSO, an audit log, daily loss limits per trader, shared scans and watchlists, a team view of journals and invoice billing. Read more on prop trading desk software.
