TC2000 alternative for day trading scanners and journal

TC2000 lists three plans at $24.99, $49.99 and $99.99 per month on its pricing page (checked November 2026), and real-time scanning starts above the entry plan. DayTradingSoftware is a browser based alternative built around the morning routine of a gap and momentum trader: a real-time premarket, low float and momentum scanner, 50 alerts and a trading journal for $49 per month on Starter, or unlimited scans on Pro for $149.

What traders use TC2000 for

TC2000 is a charting and scanning platform for US stocks with a long history among swing and position traders. Its strengths are the EasyScan wizard for building scans from indicators and formulas, a condition library, fast chart based sorting and watchlist columns that update through the day. The pricing page lists a 30 day money back guarantee, and lower monthly rates when you pay annually or every two years.

The three plans are listed at $24.99, $49.99 and $99.99 per month at the monthly rate. The entry plan covers the real-time US stock data feed, real-time news and simulated trading. Real-time scanning and sorting, the EasyScan wizard and more alerts sit in the higher plans, and the top plan adds options data and more.

  • Entry plan, $24.99 per month, data feed, news and simulator.
  • Middle plan, $49.99 per month, real-time scanning and sorting, up to 1,000 alerts.
  • Top plan, $99.99 per month, auto refreshing filters, market gauges and more data.
  • Annual and two year billing lower the effective monthly rate.

When TC2000 fits you better

Stay with TC2000 if you trade from charts. Long term scan history, deep indicator formulas, a desktop charting workspace and the ability to sort a watchlist by anything you can plot are what the platform is built for. If you hold positions for days or weeks and scan end of day lists, a Windows charting platform at $49.99 per month is hard to beat on price.

DayTradingSoftware has no desktop app, no options data and no deep formula editor on Starter. It runs in the browser and focuses on the intraday list. If your day starts with a chart workspace, keep TC2000. If it starts with the gap list, the float and the volume, read on.

Built for the premarket list, not the end of day list

A gap and momentum trader needs the list at 7:30 ET, not after the close. Our scanner runs premarket and regular hours on Starter and adds after hours on Pro. Filters cover price, float, volume, gap %, RVOL, change %, ATR and sector, and 50 active trading alerts fire on scan results, price levels, RVOL and VWAP crosses. The premarket gap scanner and low float scanner pages show the filters in detail.

A journal tied to the scan

TC2000 is a charting and scanning tool, and the pricing page does not list a trading journal. Our trading journal imports executions from popular US brokers by CSV and stores the scan state at entry with every trade: gap %, RVOL, float, price and time of day. After 50 to 100 trades the analytics show which conditions you actually make money on, by setup, hour, weekday, price, float and hold time.

Backtests on the scans you already run

Starter includes 20 simple backtests per month on 1 year of intraday history, Pro 200 per month on 5 years. See backtesting software for how they work.

TC2000 pricing next to ours over a year

Setup Monthly Per year
TC2000 entry plan, monthly $24.99 $300
TC2000 middle plan, monthly $49.99 $600
TC2000 top plan, monthly $99.99 $1,200

DayTradingSoftware Pro, yearly $74 $888

TC2000 is the cheaper tool if scanning plus charts is all you need. Starter at $49 lands next to the TC2000 middle plan, and the difference is what you get for the money: an intraday scan workflow plus a journal and backtests instead of a charting workspace. Check the annual rate on their page, because it lowers the TC2000 numbers in this table.

Rebuild your TC2000 scans in ten minutes

Chart formula scans do not move over one to one, but the intraday filters do. These lists cover most momentum mornings.

  • Premarket gappers. Gap at least 5%, price $2 to $20, premarket volume above 50,000 shares by 8:00 ET, RVOL above 3x.
  • Low float runners. Float under 20M shares, gap at least 10%, RVOL above 5x.
  • Momentum after the open. Change over 5 minutes above 2%, volume above 500,000 shares, price above VWAP.

Then import your broker CSV so the last few months of trades land in the journal with their stats. Many traders run both for one billing period, note which list they actually trade from, and cancel the other.

Trading risk

DayTradingSoftware is a software tool, not investment advice. Past performance and backtests do not guarantee future results. Trading small cap and low priced stocks involves substantial risk of loss.

FAQ

  1. What is a good alternative to TC2000

For a day trader who runs gap, float and volume lists before the open, a browser scanner with alerts and a journal is the closest fit. DayTradingSoftware runs 5 saved scans and 50 alerts on Starter for $49 per month and unlimited scans on Pro for $149, with a journal that stores the scan state of every trade.

  2. How much does TC2000 cost per month

TC2000 lists three plans on its pricing page as of November 2026: $24.99, $49.99 and $99.99 per month at the monthly rate. Paying annually or every two years lowers the effective rate, and the page lists a 30 day money back guarantee.

  3. Is TC2000 good for day trading

TC2000 is strong for chart based scanning and sorting, and works for day trading if you build your lists from indicators. It is less focused on premarket gap and low float lists and does not list a trading journal on its pricing page.

  4. Does DayTradingSoftware have charts like TC2000

Not a full charting workspace. We show the scan list with the numbers that decide the trade, and most traders keep the charts in their broker platform. If a deep chart workspace is the center of your routine, TC2000 is the better fit.

  5. Is there a trial

There is a one-time sample scan with three visible rows and one journal entry, so you can see the scanner working before you choose a plan. No card is needed for the sample.
